What We Do

The Krupp Family Foundation invests in building strong organizations that support equitable, thriving communities.

Vision

Strong programs exist in strong institutions, and the strongest nonprofits are adaptable and resilient. They have effective leaders, good financial management, the ability to collaborate with others, and the space to plan, execute and assess new strategies. Strong nonprofits help ensure strong communities. Strong communities have a better chance of achieving equity and justice.

OUR PRIORITIES

  • One

    To support and build the capacity of nonprofit and civic leaders of color through investment in BIPOC-led organizations, leadership development programs, and other forms of technical assistance.

  • Two

    To organize with predominantly white organizations and funders with whom we have shared values around collaborative grantmaking opportunities, and by resourcing progressive Jewish organizations where Jews of all ages connect to their Jewish identities and culture through solidarity with other oppressed peoples.

OUR GOALS

  • One

    Establish and nurture partnerships with grantees that are grounded in equity, trust, and creativity to inspire bold thinking and innovation;

  • Two

    Strengthen the foundational capacity and financial resilience of sector leaders through unrestricted, multi-year, capacity building investments;

  • Three

    Through grantee partnerships, address racial and cultural inequities through the communities they serve;

  • Four

    Demonstrate how funders can show up as allies and advocates for grantees and communities that experience racial and/or cultural inequities.

Capacity Building

KFF envisions direct organizational capacity building grants to be used by grantees in any of the following areas:

Leadership - Organizations must build staff and board leadership and invest in talent development and executive transition planning. KFF believes strong leadership is essential to success.

Mission, Vision, and Strategy - Organizations should plan, assess, and develop strategies for execution.

Fundraising and Development - Institutions must develop and implement feasible fundraising strategies and plan for and execute other revenue-generating activities.

Research and Evaluation - Understanding what works and why it’s critical to success and to sustainable futures. This is true for both us as a funder and our grantees.

Strategic Relationships - The power of establishing relationships with colleague organizations, stakeholders, and decision-makers to help advance the mission and to spark collaboration.

Innovation and Technology - Building and using robust IT systems to support knowledge development and linking work to outcomes.

Financial Management - Strong institutions must have strong internal management systems and a long-range plan to ensure financial health.

Program Delivery - Programs need strong functional design, a tested delivery system, and evaluation.

Communications - Organizations must use marketing, online presence, media relations, intentional design elements, and social media to raise awareness and to attract attention and resources to the organization and their missions.

KFF grants are currently invitation-only as we continue to focus on our process and how best to show up as thoughtful partners to our grantees.
