Our Values

  • We begin by being in “right relationship” with ourselves and others.

When we are in right relationship, we are acknowledging our positionality and power, and are fostering connections that place the greatest value on mutual respect, equity, and the honoring of each individual’s full humanity.

  • We believe in truth-telling.

As a Jewish family, we acknowledge how strong communities are in their resilience and survival of white supremacy. We believe in naming and confronting racism and white supremacy, including where it exists in our own behaviors and practices. We commit to shifting economic, political, and cultural power towards individuals and communities directly affected by this oppressive system.

  • We believe grantees are experts.

By centering grantees, we are practicing trust and seeking to be in alignment with the needs of communities. We recognize the multitudes of our privilege, the limitations they create, and we seek to continuously listen, learn, and unlearn.

  • We believe in being reliable, honest, and transparent.

We do this by providing multi-year general operating support, keeping our processes simple, and committing to supporting grantees beyond financial investment.

  • We believe our liberation is bound together.

It is our responsibility to envision and act toward a future of shared freedom with all peoples. Our interdependence is essential, and we will only arrive in olam haba, the world to come, if we work collectively.
