Krupp Family Foundation Welcomes Two New, Independent
Board Members.
The Krupp Family Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of
David Y. Moy and Naomi Orensten to its Board of Directors.
David and Naomi’s orientation term began in August 2024 and will be followed by a three-year term.
David Y. Moy (he/him) most recently served as Senior Advisor for the Hyams Foundation. Over David’s eighteen years at Hyams, he began as the Program Officer for Community Organizing and Civic Engagement and was promoted to Senior Program Officer, Interim Executive Director, and Deputy Director. Prior to his work in philanthropy, he served as the Regional Coordinator for the Jamaica Plain Community Centers, and as the executive director of the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, where he worked for sixteen years. In addition to his organizational roles, David’s commitment to deepening impact for marginalized communities comes from, and is grounded in, his experience as a first-generation immigrant growing up in Boston’s Chinatown and attending Boston Public Schools through the social turmoil of the 1960s and 70s.
Naomi Orensten (she/her) serves as Senior Director of Programs and Strategy at the Dorot Foundation. In her role leading the foundation’s grantmaking, Naomi is fueled by her commitment to equitable, effective funder practices and informed by her experience as a first-generation college graduate from rural northern Wisconsin. Prior to her current role at Dorot, Naomi worked at the Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP), where she served as Director of Research and Director of Assessment and Advisory Services. An expert on philanthropic effectiveness, Naomi has been a frequent speaker to foundation staff and boards and has authored numerous research reports and resources for funders. Previously, Naomi worked in nonprofit program and fundraising roles in the fields of education, civil rights, human services, and civic engagement.
“David and Naomi are important voices to have at the table to guide our family in its commitment to building political, cultural, and economic power for people and communities most affected by systems of oppression,” said Liana Krupp, President, Trustee, and Board member of the Krupp Family Foundation. “Their leadership at the Board level will strengthen our work to fund movements for social and racial justice, deepen our network of peer funders, and evolve our internal practices as the foundation grows.”
Krupp Family Foundation’s Board of Directors now includes four family board members and three independent board members, based in Greater Boston and Los Angeles. To reflect the years of internal learning and organizational development, the Foundation has prioritized shared decision making that expands subject matter expertise and mission alignment within its 2024-2027 strategic plan. With the support of Annika Morgan, the co-founder of the social impact consultancy group Transformation Collective, the Foundation implemented an internal search process over the course of the past year.
